Photography Safaris are about more than carrying a camera on a standard itinerary. The pace should allow time to wait for behaviour, work with changing light and return to productive areas instead of racing from one destination to the next.

Kenya offers very different visual environments. Amboseli National Park combines elephants, wetlands and Kilimanjaro views; the Maasai Mara offers open plains and predator-rich wildlife viewing; Samburu National Reserve adds dry-country species and the Ewaso Nyiro landscape; and Lake Nakuru National Park brings rhinos, birdlife, woodland and lake scenery.

Private vehicles are especially useful for photographers because positioning, start times and sighting duration can be adapted to the group. Longer stays in key wildlife areas reduce transfer pressure. Some properties also offer photographic hides or specialist facilities, but these should be confirmed for the chosen accommodation rather than assumed from the destination alone.
